The Department of Education and Humanities (DESU) identifies its vision within a framework of innovative and inclusive policies that, with a specific focus on the multifaceted and complex reality of the individual, promotes high levels of research, teaching and training through national and international collaborations with other departments, universities and research centres, as well as a synergy with qualified service-providers, schools and institutions of the territory.
The DESU aims to responsibly, scientifically and innovatively address the challenges related to various aspects of education and instruction, continuing to improve its strengths, including:
- High quality research and teaching, which has enabled the DESU to rank among the top national positions and become a Department of Excellence for the 2023-2027 five-year period.
- Availability and willingness to engage in dialogue with its students.
- A strong connection with the territory.
The Department conducts its research from an inter- and multidisciplinary perspective in order to convey to students the most original results achieved in various fields, offering the opportunity to acquire academic and professional skills to become educators and responsible citizens.
Many Third Mission activities of the DESU (especially those of public engagement) intend to share, disseminate and enhance research results and processes and to foster the mutual exchange of knowledge and skills with various social actors, involving all citizens and civil society, local entities and schools of all levels. In particular, they are aimed at the figures involved in educational processes and their cultural and professional training.
